Artificial Light in Art Centre

An interesting museum whose constantly changing exhibitions display paintings, sculptures, objects and other works of art, all with the central theme of artificial light. From light-bulbs to striplighting, from neon to black light: you'll see everything here. The art-works demonstrate the importance of artificial light in our society and how artificial lighting influences the world around us. As well as narrative art-works, there are also abstract light sculptures and three-dimensional light objects and display.
It is especially interesting to see and experience how the various aspects of light, such as intensity, brightness and colour, determine the appearance of the piece and how the observer experiences it. An experienced guide will explain all about the works during the tour. After visiting this centre you will never look at light in quite the same way!

The Artificial Light in Art Centre is housed in the same building as the very first Philips factory. In the factory itself, which is still in working order, you can see how the very first light-bulbs were made over one hundred years ago. A tour of the Philips factory is an interesting combination with this arrangement.
